Triple Threat : Nexus Production Groups' Machination Nabs Three Festival Wins, including Best Actor.

The good news keeps on coming for our psychological horror feature film Machination.

Just last week our latest improvised micro-budget feature film became available in DVD and Blu-Ray format through Amazon , Walmart and Barnes & Noble. The claustrophobic portrayal Steffi Thake gave of Maria, a woman dealing with mental illness landed her a silver certificate at a festival last month and now Steffi’s stand out performance has once again been acknowledged.

Black Swan International Film Festival has awarded Machination three awards at this months instalment; Outstanding Achievement Award Machination, Best Actress Winner Steffi Thake, and Outstanding Achievement Award Sound Design by Gerard Mack.

Further plans to release Machination will rollout in the coming months, so watch this space. Better yet, join our monthly email community Creatively Connected to get the news in your inbox first, plus exclusives when we have them.

YouthMundus in November

Our educational film Daughter has been invited to be part of YouthMundus - A New Global Content & Music Festival Initiative for Youth, run and organised by a team of dedicated women who own and operate an international entertainment and media company, Inner Voice Artists (IVA).

Mid September, director Sarah Jayne and producer/ editor Ivan Malekin spoke with the Iva’s Founder & CEO Ina Petersen and Iva’s Head of PR Dijana Stupar, via a video chat in order for the IVA team to understand the background of the film and the final outcome we want for Daughter.

The chat was a success, with our goals for Daughter and IVA’s aligning perfectly - to use film to spread the message of how toxic violence against women and victim blaming is within our communities through the voice of today’s youth.

The first festival edition of YouthMundus runs from 14th to 17th November, 2019 at EX CASERMA GUIDO RENI in Rome, Italy, with Daughter screening in the humanity section of the festival, November 17th from 3.45pm, Short Film Screenings 6.

Women Deliver

Our biggest news of the month comes in the form of a film festival selection for Daughter, our award winning educational short film starring Katherine Langford, which explores gendered violence and victim blaming. It is only fitting that Daughter is heading to Vancouver Canada to be part of the Women Deliver film festival, within the Women Deliver 2019 Conference as the event is the largest conference on gender equality and the health, rights and wellbeing of girls and women. The festival runs for three days from June 3rd - 6th.

Director and writer Sarah Jayne will not be in attendance, but instead she will work behind the scenes while in Berlin for another Daughter screening during May. In the hope of securing further screenings and opportunities, Sarah Jayne will promote the film's selection, reach out to organisations via email and social media to spread the word on the screening and the films overall educational importance.

Daughter is a short film just keeps on going. We are very grateful for the opportunities it's generated for Nexus Production Group, but more importantly we are always thrilled when it gets recognised, as the message needs to keep spreading in order for change to happen. TRIPLE THREAT

After a headline screening on night six of the Oz International Film Festival, our improvised feature film Friends, Foes & Fireworks was awarded for Best Drama Film, Best Supporting Actress Jess Riley, plus Best New Talent Lara Deam. We were thrilled to have had the film screen in St Kilda and the awards were a bonus.

Actress Lara Deam was at the festival on the night representing film and collecting the certificates and she was supported by fellow indie filmmakers, Donald Percy (pictured below) and Naomi Lisner.

FF&F Festival Selection

NPG received news recently that Friends, Foes & Fireworks has been selected to screen in competition at Oz International Film Festival. This is yet another step forward for the film, which continues to prove that the set formula of filmmaking and indie film producing can sometimes be turned on it’s head and totally surprising.

For those in Melbourne, Australia who want to see the film, but missed the cinema run, don’t miss your chance of seeing it on a big screen at St Kilda’s Alex Theatre on the 28th of November 2018, where the film headlines night 6 of the festival. Further details and ticket sales here.

After cinema screenings, an international DVD sale, various online VOD platform offers, finally comes a film screening at a festival. The filmmaking world works in mysterious ways, but hey, why question it!

Daughter Festival Selection

Our educational film Daughter, starring Katherine Langford is an Official Coronet Selection of the Queen Palm International Film Festival, October 2018 Edition.

Daughter explores what women deal with on a day-to-day basis, as shown through the eyes of three women who lead different lifestyles. The women’s lives become entwined over the course of the night and each affected by an act of violence.

We are thrilled that this film keeps on moving forward and this is not the only news we will have for the film this year. Stay tuned for further announcements in the coming months.
